Driving

From the channel port of Calais it is about an 8 hour drive, with motorway all the way, via Paris, to Sarlat leaving around 60 kms of local roads. Alternatively if you sail into Caen you can drive down the west coast motorways of France to Bordeaux and then across to Bergerac on the D396, which should cut the driving time down to around 7 hours.

Flying

Bergerac airport is about 30 minutes drive away from Les Charmes and is well served by:

Ryan Air from Stanstead, Liverpool, Bristol and East Midland airports

Fly Be from; London Gatwick, Southampton, Leeds/Bradford, Exeter, Edinburgh and Birmingham

Both Ryan Air and Fly Be have car hire partners attached via their websites, though in our experience holiday autos are always cheaper and hassle free. But beware you must book in advance as you will not be able to pick up a car without and you will need both parts of your UK Driver’s license.

British Airways sometimes have good deals available, and fly into Bordeaux from London Gatwick, Les Charmes is about a 1.5 hour drive from Bordeaux airport.

In the summer Easy Jet have flights to Bordeaux and Jet2.com have flights frpm Leeds Bradford into Bergerac
