
Les Charmes lies between the Bastide towns of Monpazier
(plus beaux villages de France) and Beaumont
approximately 35 kms south of Bergerac airport.

Two
other nearby Bastides are well worth a visit: Villereal
which has a large supermarkets on the edge of the town and Issigeac
which has an excellent Sunday morning market.
Bergerac
is the nearest large town with a hypermarket (E.Leclercs), not far from
the airport, and is a good place to stock up on arrival.

If you need a break from relaxing by the pool, then there are always
long walks in the country side around the property, cycling (Bikes can
be hired in the nearby town of Monpazier), horse-riding is available
close to Beaumont, you can go canoeing on the Dordogne or fishing in
the many local rivers a carte de peche de tourisme is valid for
two weeks and can be purchased from the local Presse (Newsagent/Bookshop).

those who want to venture further a field many of the sites and
flavours of this famous French region are within an hour or so drive,
and include:
Sarlat
one of the Dordognes prettiest and most famous towns.
La Roque Cageac which hangs onto the cliff side of the Dordogne
valley
Domme one of the most imposing Bastides in the Dordogne
Les Eyzies-de-Tayac - with the national museum of pre-history
The caves of Lascaux with the world famous cave paintings
Chateau Monbazillac where you can taste dessert wines to rival the
best Sauternes
St. Emillion a beautiful village and home to some of the worlds
best red wines
Cahors with its imposing medieval architecture
Bordeaux the regional city with its beautiful old town

Les Charmes is a rural property and you will have to drive to the
shops, there is however one restaurant that can be reached on foot,
Les Peyrouliers which is about 1.5 kms away.
The nearest
shops are in Monpazier, about 7kms away, though the nearest supermarkets
are to be found in Villereal and Beaumont, both of which are about 10kms
away.
The Bastide
towns each have a weekly market, excellent for fresh produce, with an
especially good one at Issigeac on a Sunday morning with a much wider
range of goods and local crafts. During the summer season there are
weekly night markets, which are great places to eat but be there early
before all the tables are filled!!
There
are many good restaurants within a 12km radius, providing for a wide
range of tastes and budgets. Most of these provide set menus and are
