Eating out

Food is one of the main reasons our guests give for choosing to holiday in France.  Many people under estimate the quality of food available here in the Dordogne but we agree with Jamie Oliver ".... they eat like kings" here.  The area is famed for Foie gras, confit canard, truffles, cepes, walnuts and prunes and all of these local ingredients feature in local restuarant menus.godard.jpg

During the summer season there are weekly night markets in the local towns, which are great places to eat – but be there early before all the tables are filled!!

There are many excellent restaurants within a 12km radius, providing for a wide range of tastes and budgets. Most of these provide set menus and are especially good value at lunch time. Prices range from 12 to 27 euros. There are even Pizzerias where you can get takeaway

In the evenings you could try the cuisine at a local auberge where you book 24 hours in advance and the menu is dictated by the seasons. Or for parties of 6 or more have a meal cooked and delivered ready to serve to your gite by a local french cook Emily. Emily cooks for you.

We are also blessed with Michelin starred (1*) restaurants (3 within 40 mins drivel) The nearest is only 6 kilometres away. There are a number of others that don't yet have that coveted star, but where the food is equally impressive.
